Volunteers at a Cambridgeshire nature reserve have been left "so disappointed" after fire damage was discovered in a hide.

The Kingfisher Hide at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve has been damaged by fire for the second time in just over two years.

It is believed that the fire damage was caused by a disposable BBQ.

Just over two years ago, the Kingfisher Hide was burnt down from what was also suspected to be a disposable BBQ.

The team at the nature reserve had to raise £10,000 to replace it.

There is a strict "no unauthorised fires and BBQs" policy at Paxton Pits.

The nature reserve is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest, so it is an offence to cause damage there.

The Friends of Paxton Pits Nature Reserve is a charity run by volunteers who support the management of Paxton Pits.

It costs them thousands of pounds a year to maintain the much-loved nature reserve, and a lot of that money is raised by charity membership and donations.
