St Ives author Claire Beesley has published her debut novel in which she talks about mental health, and support for issues facing women.
Her book entitled Waiting for the Winds To Change, which was released on February 17, has already received some good reviews.
Claire says the book looks shedding constraints, whether they are put upon us by ourselves or somebody else and "accepting ourselves as we are, with all our glorious self-expression and marvellous faults, so that we can grow".
She said: "I am thrilled to be releasing my first novel. It’s been a lifetime of work and several start/stops. I want this to start discussions on topics we need to talk about more, like post-natal depression, traumatic relationships, supporting women to maintain their identity through momentous change in their lives."
Chrissy Brown, creative director at CAAB Publishing Ltd, said: "We are very excited to work with Claire on this project and we believe this is the start of a wonderful partnership.
"Women are at particular risk to the pressures of fulfilling many ‘roles’ in society: wife, mother, neurotypical, conforming, career-seeker, housekeeper. When people’s needs are ignored – by society, their families, the strictures we live in – the results can be catastrophic."
The book is available at Waterstones and also Niche Comics and Books in Huntingdon.
