Folk singer-songwriter Marika Hackman is set to give a show in Cambridge.

As part of her largest headline tour to date, she will stop by The Portland Arms on Tuesday, April 14.

Following the release of her debut album We Slept At Last, Hackman returns with new single Ophelia, set for release on April 27.

Drawing inspiration from Hamlet, Ophelia sees her narrating a tragic story of spurned love, delivering a clear indication of her blossoming confidence as a songwriter and talent as a lyricist.

From the tangled folk roots of That Iron Taste through to the swarming psychedelia of Sugar Blind and Deaf Heat, there’s a distinct sense of adventure to her songwriting.

Over a trilogy of EPs her extraordinary songs have continued to develop and evolve, whilst still retaining both their beauty and invention.

Her credits include touring with Laura Marling, The 1975 and alt-J, plus performing to crowds across the UK in December last year.

Opening in Leicester on March 23, the tour will see Hackman playing a run of 17 dates, ending on Wednesday, April 15 at The Joiners in Southampton.
