A ST NEOTS woman who lost FIVE members of her family to cancer has turned to fundraising to help fight the disease.

Since 1971, Angela Chatten’s father, two uncles and two cousins – one of whom was only 17 – all lost their battles with cancer.

Mrs Chatten, of Leys Road, now counts herself as a full-time fundraiser and together with three friends is holding her first event later this month, a craft fair.

“I have lost five close family members and many friends – too many – to this terrible disease,” the 62-year-old The Hunts Post. “Research is vital and doctors and scientists need the funds to find new and effective treatments.

“We’ve decided to hold a craft fair to try to do this and hope people will be as supportive as possible.”

Mrs Chatten, who also lost her husband to kidney disease four years ago, said that the fair had so far received a lot of support from businesses in the town.

“We’ve had donations from Costa Coffee, Barretts, Yasmin Cakes, Constable Photography, Marks and Spencers and Home Mechanics. It’s genuinely the case that every penny counts and I really hope people will come and support us and help raise as much as we can for such a worthwhile cause.”
