HUNTINGDON rock legend Terry Reid is returning to his roots.

HUNTINGDON rock legend Terry Reid is returning to his roots.

Described in The Independent as “astonishing by any standard” and “the most soulful British vocalist ever”, Huntingdon-born Reid will be performing at the St Ives Corn Exchange as part of his UK tour.

The tour culminates in a gig at the Glastonbury Festival at the end of June, and while on the St Ives leg the singer plans to pop in to visit his mum Grace, who lives in Bluntisham.

Having supported rock icons like Robert Plant, Keith Richards and Roger Daltrey over the course of his 47-year career in the music business, Reid boasts a repertoire that any consummate rocker would be proud of.

Tour commitments meant he rejected an offer to join the group that eventually became Led Zeppelin, recommending Robert Plant, and then turned down the chance to become Deep Purple’s lead singer.

This concert will feature songs from Reid’s first release in 1968, Bang Bang, You’re Terry Reid, through to his last foray into recorded music in 2004 with the album Alive!

INFORMATION: Terry Reid in Concert will be at the St Ives Corn Exchange on Saturday, May 7. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets 15 advance, 17 on the door. To book call 01480 496545 or visit www.thecornexchange.org.uk
