A coach at the club where Jake Jarman trained was overjoyed after seeing the gymnast make his mark on the world stage.
Jarman, who trained at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club, won team bronze before picking up a fifth-place finish in the men’s all-around final at the World Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool.
His performance capped off a year of triumph for the 20-year-old, who has won four Commonwealth medals and two European titles in the last 12 months.
“I couldn’t be prouder of what Jake had achieved this year,” Ben Howells, head of men’s artistic at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club, said.
“A huge thanks to the entire Great Britain team, medical/support team, Huntingdon Gymnastics Club and coaching team, families and friends for all your support, encouragement and patience.”
Jarman delivered six clean routines to take fifth place with a score of 82.865 in the men’s all-around final on his world championship debut, two points shy of a medal.
