A truly delightful Christmas book written by actress Emma Thompson and illustrated by Gruffalo artist Axel Scheffler.
Published by the Victoria and Albert Museum, this story tells the tell of Sir Henry Cole, builder of the museum, and his amazing dog Jim.
Jim is a rather scrappy and dirty terrier who turns up on site one day and is soon adopted by Sir Henry and is often seen with him as he does his rounds of the buildings work.
Emma Thompson weaves an imaginative tale of how Jim comes to love reading but has troubles with his eyes and how Queen Victoria and the invention of the Christmas Card by Sir Henry means that this little dog soon has a most prized Christmas present to help him read.
Funny and lovingly written this is a beautiful and touching book aimed at younger children which will have them both laughing and cheering for this feisty little dog.
