The organiser of a nude charity calendar is deciding whether to get more copies printed - because the first print run has almost sold out already.

Katie Kitson rallied the community in St Neots to get their clothes off for the project to raise funds for the Hunts Community Cancer Network (HCCN).

Businessness and community groups came forward willing to participate and almost 250 copies have flown off the shelves within a fortnight, raising around £2,000.

Katie, who was helped by the charity during her own fight with bowel cancer, said: “The response to the calendar has been amazing since its launch a fortnight ago.

“I’m in limbo as to whether I should get more copies printed. All profits are going to HCCN and I’d hate for them to miss out on any funds if I have leftover calendars.”

The project was inspired by the musical Calendar Girls, which amateur damatics group VAMPS will be staging next year.

The front cover features members of HCCN’s men’s support group who have either battled cancer themselves or supported a loved one through treatment.

The Hunts Post:

Katie said: “They're certainly famous now and were even signing copies at the calendar’s launch event.

“It was lovely to see them embracing the project and enjoying themselves. They were very keen to be involved.”

Carpet fitters, plasterers and a jewellery shop staff are among those featured in the calendar. Photograhy was managed by i-d Image Development, in Priory Lane.

The launch event was held at The Royal Oak pub, in Hail Weston.

Calendars cost £10 each and remaining copies are currently available at Floored by Ian, on St Neots Market Square.

HCCN will also be selling them at their Christmas Market in Huntingdon on November 26.

“It has been so wonderful to have so many different members of the community represented in the calendar,” Katie added.

“And all for a good cause, thank you so much to everyone who has supported us.”

HCCN helps people who are recovering from, or living with cancer in Huntingdonshire. To find out more about their work, visit www.hccnthecharity.org.
