A driver who narrowly avoided other motorists by swerving a 44-tonne lorry across the A14 in Cambridgeshire has been jailed.
Ronald Grant was seen moving in and out of the correct lane on the westbound carriageway for around 40 minutes on June 3 last year.
Grant then hit a crash barrier which caused significant damage to the lorry.
Police officers were alerted and stopped Grant near to the split with the A1 at Brampton.
On November 22 at Cambridge Crown Court, Grant, of Morvich Way, Inverness, was sentenced to 17 months in prison after admitting to dangerous driving.
He was also banned from driving for three years and eight months, and ordered to take an extended re-test.
Sergeant Craig Wheeler said: “Grant was a professional driver but failed to live up to those standards.
“He put innocent road users in danger and the outcome could have been much worse had he not been stopped when he was.”
