A man who hit and robbed his own mother has been sent to prison.
Filip Stula pushed his 59-year-old mother to the floor and hit her over the head on the afternoon of 11 September after she told him he couldn’t stay at their Warboys home if he was drinking alcohol.
The 37-year-old then demanded £4 from his mother and threatened to kill her unless she handed over the money.
He also threw household items on the floor and damaged his mother’s laptop.
Stula then left and his mother sought help from a neighbour who called police.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Friday (9 December), Stula was sentenced to three years and four months in prison after pleading guilty to assault, criminal damage and robbery.
Detective Constable Steve Surtees, who investigated, said: “It’s often assumed domestic abuse occurs between partners, or couples, but as this case demonstrates, it can happen in any type of relationship.
“It takes a lot of courage for a victim to come forward and disclose information to police. I hope Stula uses his time in prison to address his behaviour.”
