Five police cadets aged 14 to 17-years-old had their property removed, fingerprints taken and a ‘gourmet’ meal served before spending a night in custody.

But luckily for them, after being arrested and having one night in a cell at Huntingdon Police Station on January 20, it was all in aid of charity.

The volunteer cadets from Huntingdon were raising money for the Road Victims Trust, which provides support to those affected by the trauma of serious road collisions.

Cadets Forsey, Oakley, Jepson and Carrick said they were “treated with respect and had our needs and requests met.

“However, we’ve certainly stayed in better accommodation.”

More than £500 has been raised through the fundraiser, which involved cadets being without luxury items such as mobile phones.

Amanda Large, unit leader, said: “The cadets were amazing, teenagers being in their cell all night from about 8pm, without mobile phones or games consoles was such a great achievement.

“Some of them even enjoyed the custody food and went back for seconds!”
