A set of recycled plastic benches are a new addition to the recently installed and popular play features at Hinchingbrooke Country Park.
The new benches will allow parents, grandparents, and other carers to take a seat and watch their children enjoy playing in the new play areas.
The benches, which are made of recycled plastic that requires much less maintenance and should last longer than wooden ones, have been funded by the Friends of Hinchingbrooke Country Park.
There’s also a new picnic table with space for a wheelchair that has been funded by Field Lodge Care Home of St Ives.
Executive councillor for leisure, waste and street scene at HDC, Cllr Simone Taylor, said: “We very much welcome the new benches and picnic table as a valuable addition to the new facilities at Hinchingbrooke Country Park.
A big 'thank you' and appreciation to the Friends of Hinchingbrooke Country Park and Field Lodge Care Home for their contributions, as well as to the volunteers who came down and helped to instal the new benches.”
Chair of the Friends of Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Margaret King, said: “We look forward to the benches being well used by park visitors and would very much welcome donations to help us help provide more benches and other facilities.
If there are any local companies, or other organisations, interested in sponsoring items then we would be pleased to hear from them.”
The installation of the benches at the play areas is now complete adding a finishing touch to the new play provision which was initially installed in Autumn 2022.
They were installed with help from local volunteers and the installation contributes to the wider investment project at Hinchingbrooke Country Park.
