A running club in Huntingdon has handed over a huge sum of money to a cancer charity.
The town's BRJ Run and Tri Club met in March at the annual general meeting and it was announced that the BRJ Run and Tri Charity Campaign for 2023 had raised £2,325 for Cancer Research UK.
Gerry Pye, who lost his wife Wendy to cancer in 2018, approach the club and asked them to support Cancer Research UK. He then became the club's fundraiser.
Gerry told members that he had received wonderful support from the Huntingdon Community Cancer Network (HCCN) and MacMillan Cancer Support and also wanted to recognise the work of Cancer Research UK.
Working closely with club secretary Lisa Shacklock, a series of sponsored events were organised over the year.
This included the BRJ Run and Tri Invitational Run, the Martin Doig Guestimate Run, a charity raffle and a jogg and jazz event at the Barley Mow pub in Huntingdon.
Gerry has said he was overwhelmed at the generosity of the club members, their families and friends, and all the people who supported events.
He presented the cheque to Gill Burgess from Cancer Research UK.
