The Rotary Club of St Neots and Cambridgeshire County Council have helped to fund a new travelling display case which St Neots Museum will be using to take the museum out and about across the local area this summer.
The case has been built by museum volunteer Brian Guinee and designed as a flat pack unit which can be moved from one venue to another in a small car.
The travelling unit was the idea of the museum’s learning officer, Lesley Sainsbury, and features a selection of local photographs, information panels and museum objects.
Its contents focus on four aspects of St Neots and the surrounding area: people, pastimes, countryside and town.
Lesley said: "We are very grateful to the Rotary Club of St Neots and Cambridgeshire County Council for making the development of this unique travelling display case possible.
"It will enable the museum to bring the stories of local life in the past to a wider and more diverse selection of local people."
St Neots Museum is located at The Old Court, 8 New Street, St Neots, PE19 1AE. Call 01480 214163.
