The final preparations are underway for the highly-anticipated launch of the first-ever St Neots Festival, a two-day celebration of music, arts and unexpected delights.

The free event is just under a month away, with several acts and sponsors already confirmed ahead of the big launch in Priory Park on June 24-25.

With more than 1,000 people lined up to take part across the weekend, The Neotists, a community group in St Neots organising the festival, say they "can't wait" to bring the whole community together.

Festival organiser Ben Pitt said: "St Neots is such a vibrant, friendly town, and St Neots Festival is a celebration of what it has to offer.

"We also wanted to include some experiences you normally have to travel to Cambridge or London to see.

"We're confirming the final acts to complete the line-up, and we can't wait to share it with everyone in the next few days."

The festival will feature 30 acts across two stages throughout the weekend, including pop, rock, jazz, folk, Latin, soul, dance performances and a few things that "defy categorisation".

The Arcades, Rockaoke, Immi Davis, the Collaboration Choir, Georgia Van Etten, Tremaine Dawkins, St Neots Big Band and Droppa and the Dropettes are just some of the artists and bands already confirmed to play.

Before the festival starts, A St Neots Festival Parade, inspired by the former St Neots Carnival, will kick off the weekend.

St Neots resident Brian Moore kickstarted the plans on Facebook and has enlisted more than 30 groups and 700 people to be part of the Festival Parade.

Brian said: "The St Neots Carnival was such a special event.

"We are trying to bring back 'The spirit of the carnival' as a walking parade while making it sustainable for many years to come."

The Parade will start at 11:15am, winding through Priory Park and finishing in front of the Beacon Stage to mark the start of the festival at midday.
