A teenager from Huntingdon Gymnastics Club is preparing for the Youth Olympics after he was announced in the 39-strong team to represent Team GB.
Sol Scott, 16, lives in Godmanchester and was starting his GCSEs when he was told that he had been selected by Team GB to compete at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Maribor, Slovenia, this summer.
Sol said: "I'm incredibly happy to be representing Team GB because this will be a fantastic opportunity to put myself on a European stage, showing my capabilities as well as fully immersing in the Olympic Festival".
The competition starts on July 23-29, and Sol will be competing in the category of artistic gymnastics.
Sol will be aiming for gold and is no stranger to achieving medal success with Team GB, having picked up gold medals on the vault at the International Team Cup in Berlin in May.
Sol continues a tradition of gymnasts from Huntingdon Gymnastics Club who have competed over the years, including Jake Jarman (2017), Cameron Mackenzie, Max Bennett, Sam Oldham (all 2009) and Lisa Mason (1997).
Club Manager Adam Scott: “We are massively proud of Sol and his coaches, Ben, Steve, James and Nathan, all of whom have shown that dedication and hard work over many years pay off.
"Sol continues to be an inspiration to all of us at the club, and we wish him well for his EYOF adventure.”
