A golf day held by the NSPCC Cambridgeshire Branch has raised £4,573 for the charity.
The event, which was held at Cambridge Country Club, was supported by The ONE Group and BMW Group1Auto, as well as volunteers from the area and has raised almost £16,000 for the charity since it began in 2015.
“The ONE Group kindly sponsored our winning team shield this year and will be supporting the event going forward,” said Kate Armstrong from the NSPCC Cambridgeshire Branch.
“Additionally, BMW Group1Auto provided goodie bags for the teams who took part including the winners, St Neots Golf Club, and sponsored the event with a £1,000 donation which helped us raise more than ever this year.”
Kate added: “We were all blown away by the amazing support we received from the participating teams too who donated to our raffle and auction which helped us raise as much as we did.
“It was an outstanding and generous effort from everyone which could help to support the charity’s school’s service across the county.”
Last year, over 15,200 children in 63 schools across Cambridgeshire took part in the online NSPCC Speak Out Stay Safe sessions, which helps primary school children in an age-appropriate way to identify safe adults and seek help if they’re worried about anything.
NSPCC fundraising manager for the East of England, Rachel Sullivan, said: “We can’t thank the supporters of this event enough for all of their efforts, this also includes Cambridge Country Club, the Cotto Restaurant who provided food and refreshments on the day and of course the wonderful volunteers from the NSPCC Cambridgeshire Branch as well.
“It is amazing what we can do as a community when we all work together and that’s why at the NSPCC we would urge anyone with concerns about a child to call our helpline on 0808 800 5000 to report any worries or simply to seek advice.”
