Four men have been arrested in connection with the break-ins of more than 20 lorries at Cambridge services overnight.
They remain in custody while investigations are ongoing.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: "Our patrols across service stations will continue as we know that lorry thieves are often part of organised criminal gangs."
The force also issued the following advice to lorry drivers:
- Keep your vehicle and cab securely locked at all times.
- Remove keys whenever the vehicle is left unattended.
- Park in designated car parks or services.
- Try to park in a way that prevents access to the rear doors.
- Consider parking with loading doors close to another vehicle or wall.
- When returning to an unattended vehicle, always check signs for tampering.
- If you realise a theft is taking place, don’t leave the safety of your vehicle.
- Lock the doors, start the engine, switch on the lights and if necessary sound the horn to attract attention.
- Avoid talking about the loads and routes with other drivers or customers.
- Protect documents such as shipping orders and consignment notes.
- In an emergency or if you spot any criminal or suspicious behaviour, contact police on 999.
