Police have received "concerning" reports of e-scooters being ridden inconsiderately in Huntingdonshire, resulting in incidents where pedestrians have been knocked by riders on footpaths.
"It’s crucial to note that, although e-scooters are available to purchase in the UK, they are not permitted on public roads, cycle lanes, or pavements," said a Cambridgeshire Constabulary spokesperson.
"The only permissible area for their use is on private land. Violating these regulations could lead to severe consequences, including the seizure of your vehicle and issuance of a Fixed Penalty Notice.
"This notice carries fines and potential penalty points of up to six on your license.
"Offences encompass various infractions such as riding without insurance or a driving licence, using a mobile phone while riding, disregarding traffic signals, and engaging in drink-driving offences.
"Let’s ensure our streets remain safe for everyone by adhering to these regulations and using e-scooters responsibly."
