Mayor of St Neots, Councillor Rob Simonis, shares his Christmas message
We’ve almost made it to Christmas! We are all busy with school, work, volunteering, family, shopping and so on, but I hope that you are finding time to embrace the festive season in your own way.
I have had the privilege of being Mayor since May and have been on the most incredible rollercoaster of insight into how our town really operates behind the scenes.
What I have learned is the amount of time which is invested by local people into making things better and the difference that makes.
It might be running a business in an incredibly tough climate, volunteering to provide support services to those who need it, working to give the next generation new experiences, or running interest groups that also become social and support hubs.
When you (hopefully) get to a lull in Christmas Day, you have the most important people around you or in your thoughts and too much has been eaten, perhaps give a thought to whether you could give a few hours to one of our community groups in 2024.
Maybe you do already in which case, thank you. I believe it’s what makes the town what it is.
