A Huntingdonshire school has received a £1,500 donation that will go towards "providing some of the more expensive items on the school’s wish list".
Priory Infants and Playgroup PTA (PIPP) got the cash boost from David Wilson Homes to help support its work in fundraising for Priory Park Infant School and playgroup in St Neots.
The donation came as part of the Barratt Developments Plc Charitable Foundation.
Angie Smith, headteacher at the school, said: “We would like to thank David Wilson Homes for the donation and our wonderful PTA for the amazing fundraising they do.
“Without the extra funds, we would not be able to afford the ‘little extras’ that make such a difference to the children’s learning. We will certainly be able to put the donation to good use. Thank you so much!”
Lucy Gogarty, Secretary at PIPP, said: “This donation was very unexpected and will likely go towards an outdoor classroom so that there is more shaded space and shelter for the children when playing outside.
“We were beyond thrilled when we were informed about the donation. Since COVID, and with the current economic climate, we know times are tough for everyone and therefore fundraising has become a bit more difficult.
“The contribution has really helped us ensure we can provide some of the more expensive items on the school’s wish list.
“Donations like these are invaluable. It means we can carry on providing the children at the school with the best support and create a fun, engaging and welcoming place for children to learn.”
Ben Kalus, managing director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “We strive to support the communities in and around the areas in which we build and we’re delighted to be able to offer Priory Infants and Playgroup PTA a donation to support the fantastic work it does.”
