Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a boy was seriously injured in a fail-to-stop collision.

Emergency services were called to Back Lane, Cambourne, close to the junction with Sterling Way, at about 9pm last night (5 March).

A silver Audi A4 was involved in a collision with a non-electric scooter ridden by a 15-year-old boy from the Cambourne area. 

The boy suffered serious injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge. 

The Audi driver failed to stop at the scene and the car was later found partially burnt out in Highfields Road, Highfields Caldecote.

Sergeant Mark Atkins, from the road policing unit, said: “The teenage boy has been left with serious injuries and I am appealing for witnesses to come forward.

“If anyone has any dashcam or video doorbell footage of the collision then that would be very helpful for our investigation.

“Also, if anyone saw or has dashcam footage of the Audi in the Cambourne or Highfields Caldecote areas at about 9pm yesterday evening, I would also like to hear from them.”

A 32-year-old man, of no fixed abode, has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop, and remains in custody.
