The May bank holiday weekend is fast approaching, and a great way to spend a day is by wandering around a car boot sale.

You never know what you might find at a car boot sale, and as the old saying goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

With vintage fashion becoming more and more popular, it's a good idea to see if you can get your hands on any coats, bags or jeans at a car boot.

In Cambridgeshire we're lucky to have some brilliant car boot sales that take place every year, including the popular Skylark Car Boot in March and the Huntingdon Race Course car boot sale.

Skylark Car Boot - March

The Skylark Car Boot is perhaps one of the most popular car boot sales in Cambridgeshire, and it runs every Sunday.

You can find the sale at Skylark Garden Centre on Manea Road, where it starts at 7am and finishes around noon.

Buyers pay a £1 entry free, whereas prices vary for sellers depending on the size of their vehicle.

Fordham Car Boot Sale - Fordham

The Fordham Car Boot Sale is one of the longest running car boots in East Anglia.

Every two weeks, buyers and sellers flock to Market Field in Fordham for treasures and bargains.

Like Skylark, buyers pay a £1 entry fee into the car boot sale and sellers charges vary depending on vehicle size.

Entry begins at 7am and finishes at 1pm.

Chaplins Car Boot - Fulbourn

The Chaplins Car Boot runs every Sunday and is at Babraham road in Fulbourn.

From 7am until midday, buyers can wander round the car boot free of charge.

Once again, seller prices vary.

There are refreshments available at the site, as well as a toilet.

Huntingdon Car Boot Sale - Huntingdon Race Course

Huntingdon Racecourse host popular car boot sales every Sunday (except on race days).

Anyone interested in selling their wares at a car boot sale here must pay £10, no matter what size your vehicle is.

Buyers can get early bird entry every Sunday from 9:30am-10:30am for £2 - entry after that is free.

Oakington Saturday Car Boot - Oakington

Anyone stuck on how to spend their Saturday can go to the Oakington Saturday Car Boot at Oakington Business Park.

Buyers can pay £1 to get into the sale before 8:30am, but anyone after that will pay 50p. Sellers prices vary.

The car boot ends around midday.

Bizzy Boots Car Boot Sales - Peterborough

The Bizzy Boots Car Boot Sale takes place on Wellington Street Car Park every Sunday and bank holiday Monday throughout the year.

It's free entry for all buyers, who can get there from 10:30am and stay until 2pm (or just after).

Sellers charges vary, and they can get there from 10am onwards.
