Cllr Val Fendley has been elected as the Mayor of Ramsey for the 2024-25 local government year.

In a public statement issued after her election, she said: "I am delighted to have been voted in by fellow councillors to stand as mayor of Ramsey for the next 12 months.

"Those who know me, particularly from my community roles and volunteering, know how passionate I am about local people having a say in decisions that affect them, and in helping to bring about change for themselves and their community."

Cllr Fendley has chosen the Ramsey and District Community Bus Association, and the Ramsey Heritage Partnership, as her chosen charities.

Fundraising events for these charities are set to take place throughout the year.

The Mayor of Ramsey will serve alongside her consort, David Fendley, and the deputy mayor, Cllr Steve Corney.

In light of the 20mph zone controversy that took place at the Mayor Making ceremony on May 10, Cllr Fendley confirmed that she will be looking into the issue further during her tenure as Mayor.
