A well-known Huntingdonshire charity has announced The Cambridge Building Society as main sponsor of its biggest fundraising event of the year.

The Angels Foundation UK, which is based in St Neots, will hold its third Annual Angels Ball later this year.

Now in its third year, the black-tie event takes place on September 28 at Wyboston Lakes Resort.

The fundraiser will welcome 240 guests with live entertainment, music, canapés, a two-course meal and wine.

Caroline Deeprose, chief executive officer of The Angels Foundation UK, said: “As a local charity supporting families who have fled domestic abuse in Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire, we’re incredibly proud to have The Cambridge Building Society as the main sponsor of the biggest event in our fundraising calendar.

“While the subject of domestic abuse is a serious one, this event is about a celebration of life, of freedom, of moving on and moving forward.”

Peter Burrows, chief executive officer of The Cambridge Building Society, said: “Our relationship with The Angels Foundation UK began last year when they successfully applied for a grant from The Cambridge Building Society Community Fund.

“The grant helped support their Back to Life project, which provides families who have fled domestic abuse with furniture, flooring, home comforts and social introductions.

“We’ve been impressed and inspired by everything that The Angels Foundation does.

“What they do is so very special, and we’re honoured to help by sponsoring this year’s Angels Ball.”

The Angels Ball will also provide the finish line for Tracy Honeyman’s 7 Marathons in 7 Days challenge.

Tracy will walk 27.2 miles each day between 22 and 28 September, to raise money for The Angels Foundation UK.

The official 26.2 mile marathon distance will be extended by a mile each day to recognise the extra mile domestic abuse survivors go through to flee their perpetrator.

The Angels Foundation UK have further sponsorship opportunities available for businesses and individuals wanting to show their support.
