A retired professional golfer is appealing a common assault conviction, a Cambridgeshire court has confirmed.

Vivien Saunders OBE, who is also the owner of Abbotsley Golf Course, in St Neots, was found guilty of the charge at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court in November 2023.

Cambridgeshire Crown Court confirmed last week an appeal is now in progress with an initial hearing date currently set for September 26, 2024.

It is not yet known where the hearing will be held.

Saunders, 77, of Eynesbury Hardwicke Manor, St Neots, was convicted after footage from her own dashcam was used as evidence in the trial.

She was handed a £500 fine, a £200 surcharge, £720 costs and ordered to pay compensation of £50.
