Sir Ed Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, was in Huntingdonshire today (June 28) for his latest stunt on the campaign trail.

Sir Ed tried his hand at an archery session along with the Liberal Democrat candidate for St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire, Ian Sollom, at the Little Paxton Community Hub, near St Neots.

The pair were joined by a handful of archery-enthusiasts to try and hit the bullseye, which just so happened to be a yellow circle.

Unfortunately Sir Ed didn't quite manage to hit the yellow, but one archer launched the arrow into the middle for the Lib Dems.

Despite not hitting the target that he was hoping for, it didn't stop Sir Ed referring to himself as Robin Hood - a call back to his birth town of Nottingham.

After he'd shot his arrows, we spoke to the Lib Dem leader about a local issue in Little Paxton - flooding.

Our reporter, Francesca Herring, asked Sir Ed what the Liberal Democrats can do for people in Little Paxton to help aid the flooding crisis in the area.

He said: "We need to make sure that the Environment Agency and all those who deal with flood defences have more money. I don't think the cuts we've seen to the budgets that protect homes and communities from flooding have been short-sighted.

"They're short-sighted because the cost it imposes on people, whether they're driving through detours or their homes are getting flooded, is huge. For more modest amounts of money we can tackle these problems."

We then asked him how he would support the local businesses that suffer in trade when flooding hits.

His response was: "My heart goes out to the people who are spending their lifetime building up businesses, bringing money in and working really hard, and then they expect the government to deal with these issues, but they don't.

"The prosperity of our communities is undermined by not taking action against things that we see year on year. You don't need a crystal ball to know you'll get flooding in Little Paxton."

Ian Sollom, the Liberal Democrat candidate for St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire, said: "It's great to have Ed join us in the constituency.

"It's going to be close next week, but this is a great boost to have Ed come."
