The second Newmarket Nights event in as many weeks marked the beginning of JLS' 12-date 2024 Sumer Hits tour.

On Friday night, thousands of fans gathered at the picturesque racecourse in anticipation of seeing Aston Merrygold, Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes, and JB Gill take to the stage.

The band first shot to fame during the fifth edition of The X Factor and enjoyed a string of hits until they went their separate ways in 2013.

While each member continued their own successful careers outside of JLS, they remained best of friends and shared a nagging feeling that they had unfinished business to address...

The atmosphere at Newmarket was suitably electric as fans cheered under the setting sun, eagerly awaiting the London-based boyband's performance in their signature monochrome outfits.

The stage was set with a silhouette of the band against a large screen displaying their iconic JLS (Jack the Lad Swing) logo.

The X Factor finalists' show kicked off with hits like 'Eyes Wide Shut' and 'Hottest Girl in the World', accompanied by flames shooting into the air and impressive light displays.

The audience was filled with enthusiastic fans, decked out in head-to-toe JLS merchandise, from t-shirts to JLS hair bows.

In between songs, each member of the band took the time to address the audience.

JB, in particular, shared his excitement about winning some money on a race earlier in the day.

The front row was adorned with placards and signs that caught the attention of Aston Merrygold, prompting him to jump down from the stage to embrace a fan holding a "can I have a hug?" sign.

A highlight of the performance was a unique 15-minute segment where Marvin and Aston engaged in a DJ set megamix competition, while JB and Oritsé showcased their vocal talents.

The competition began with nostalgic JLS tracks but soon transitioned into remixes of songs by other artists such as Natasha Bedingfield's "These Words," Whitney Houston's "Million Dollar Bill," and Dizzee Rascal's "Bonkers."

Despite all four members being fathers in their late 30's, their vocals remained impressive, and there was no sign of "dad dancing."

The choreography was energetic, and Aston even delighted the audience with a few of his famous backflips.

Overall, it's clear that Aston, Marvin, Oritsé and JB clearly get along well together - combined with slick dance routines, excellent vocals and genuine interactions with their fans, it all made for a terrific show which passed in a flash.

Newmarket Nights continues throughout the summer with Busted, James Arthur, Becky Hill and Deacon Blue all set to perform after racing in the coming weeks.
