A Huntingdonshire couple were left injured after two burglars wielding machetes attacked them in their home.
Giles and Fran Wagstaff were attacked in the early hours of Friday morning during a break-in at their property on Mill Hill Road in Eaton Ford, St Neots.
The thieves reportedly knocked Mr Wagstaff unconscious before removing a safe from the property.
Posting on Facebook after the incident, Mr Wagstaff said: "It was the scariest moment. The worst thing for me was that I was unconscious and my wife had to deal with them.
"They said they’d kill me if she didn’t show them where the safe was. How did they even know we had a safe?"
Cambridgeshire Constabulary said it is not treating the break-in as a random attack.
A spokesperson added: "No arrests have been made but investigations continue today.
"We would appeal for witnesses and information and urge people to contact us online or via 101, the reference number is 35/54163/24."
On Sunday (July 28), Mrs Wagstaff took to social media to thank the community for its support since the break-in.
She said: "Giles and I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all of the support and kind words since our break in the other night.
"It’s made a huge difference to know there’s so many people looking out for us during such a stressful time. St Neots isn’t all bad."
