Cambridgeshire Police officers were on hand on a hot day in Huntingdonshire to stop danger in the river.

The force were on patrol in Hemingford Abbotts and Houghton on July 30 when they received reports of a group of young adults jumping off of a bridge into the river.

The reports stated that the group were causing a disturbance to local residents. The patrol officers moved the youths on, and have since issued a warning about playing near water on a hot day.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: "It may seem like a good way to cool off, but jumping or diving in open water can cause serious harm.

"The water can contain unseen hazards and be far deeper than it looks."
