Figures have revealed patient's experiences of pharmacies across Huntingdonshire.

The results of NHS England's annual GP Patient Survey for 2024 highlighted whether patients were happy with their pharmacies after completing a questionnaire.

Patients who have used pharmacies over the last 12 months were surveyed, and the data was collected from January 2 this year to March 25.

Ninety-six per cent of patients at Acorn Surgery in Huntingdon said they had a ‘good experience’ using pharmacy services – the highest in the district.

Acorn Surgery was one of six practices where 95 per cent or more of patients reported positive experiences, which included Spinney Surgery and Alconbury Surgery.

In fact, on average patients across Huntingdonshire reported a slightly lower overall approval rating of pharmacy services than the national average, with a score of 86 per cent compared to the 86.8 per cent rating taken from pharmacies across the country.

At the other end of the scale, patients at Almond Road Surgery in St Neots had a lower overall satisfaction rating when accessing community pharmacy services in the district, scoring 71 per cent.

Almond Road Surgery was the only practice where patients did not report a rating of community pharmacy services higher than 72 per cent.

The next lowest-rated rating was Lakeside Health in St Neots, with 72 per cent of patients reporting they had a good experience overall when accessing community pharmacy services.

NHS England highlighted that only a handful of patients completed the survey at some practices, so the figures may not reflect an entirely accurate picture of each surgery's performance.

A spokesperson for NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough said: “Pharmacies across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough offer a great range of services to local people, including

health advice about common ailments, help with new and existing medications, and treatments for some conditions.

“We continue to work with pharmacy teams in our area to ensure that local communities have a good experience of using their pharmacy, and to raise awareness of all of the different forms of support pharmacies can offer.”
