A new 'state of the art' health and fitness club could be opening its doors in St Neots next year.

David Lloyd Leisure has submitted an application to Huntingdonshire District Council for the site which, subject to planning consent, could open in late Autumn 2025.

If approved, it would be the third club to open in Cambridgeshire, with sites located in Coldham Business Park, Cambridgeshire, and Peterborough.

The plans for the club include a new gym, heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, exercise studios, an indoor soft play area, a stylish clubroom, as well as tennis and badminton courts.

A luxury spa retreat and garden has also been proposed.

The club would be situated on the Wintringham development of the town centre and once open, is expected to create 90 jobs.

Paul Murfin, Communications and Partnerships Manager from Urban&Civic, said: "Health and wellbeing is a key priority for Wintringham and we’re delighted David Lloyd Leisure is bringing forward these proposals in the commercial area within Wintringham’s District Centre.

"The David Lloyd Club will sit alongside the community facilities coming forward as part of the district centre, which will include a café/restaurant, food store, nursery, community centre and health centre, and the new pitches and sports provision coming forward in Phase 2."

Stuart Caswell, New Clubs Acquisition Director at David Lloyd Leisure, added: "We are delighted to be part of the future for Wintringham, St Neots. Our plan is to construct a state-of-the-art health and wellness Club that not only enhances the area and creates a range of new jobs and opportunities for the local community, but also reflects the needs of people living in the area."
