Lloyds Bank has confirmed when its branch in St Ives, Cambridgeshire, will close next year.

The national chain has said a decline in the number of visitors to the branch and more customers turning to online forms of banking led to its decision.

The branch – housed in a Grade II listed building at The Pavement – is currently set to close on February 24, 2025.

A Lloyds Bank spokesperson said: “As many customers now choose to bank through their mobile app or online, visits to our St Ives Cambridgeshire branch have fallen over recent years.

“The local Post Office on the High Street offers everyday banking and customers can also manage their money through our mobile banking apps, online, by calling us or speaking to a Community Banker.”

Lloyds Bank says 81 per cent of its personal customers already use other ways of banking, such as mobile, internet or phone banking, as well as other branches.

It added the latest technologies and systems are used to keep customers and the money safe.

Services available at the Post Office at Foundary Walk include personal and business banking services, access to cash and cheque payments.

The bank also explained the nearest free-to-use ATM is a short walk away (0.09 miles), and there are nine free-to-use ATMs within one mile of the closing branch.

In the run up to the branch closure, branch staff will be on-hand to offer support and guidance on the ways customers can bank in the future.

After the St Ives branch closes, we will have a Community Banker visit the area, who will continue to offer face-to-face support for as long as it is needed.

Locations and days for these visits will be arranged with communities who need help.
