Cambridgeshire Police has confirmed that it has arrested 45 people in August over drunk driving related offences.

This last weekend (August 17-18), seven people were arrested. These arrests include:

  • A man in his 50s from Wisbech who was later charged with drink driving after being almost three times the limit, as well as driving while disqualified, being in possession of cannabis and driving without insurance.
  • A man in his 40s, who was charged with drink driving in Leverington after he was almost three times the limit and driving without a licence.
  • A man in his 30s who was arrested in Guyhirn and charged with being almost 1.5 times the drink drive limit.
  • Two men in their 30s who were arrested in Hampton, Peterborough, after a crash. One has been charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath while the other was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
  • A woman in her 30s who was arrested in Farcet, Huntingdonshire, and charged with drink driving after being found almost 2.5 times the legal limit.
  • A woman in her 20s in Cambridge who was arrested for various offences including drink driving.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: "If you are planning to have a drink, we urge you to arrange alternative transport and avoid spending time in custody.
