Cambridgeshire Police officers were met with a man wielding an axe at them when they attended a welfare check in Ermine Street yesterday (September 3).

Huntingdon Neighbourhood Officers were carrying out welfare checks over concerns of cuckooing. They were met with resistance by the occupant of one home, who came at them with the axe.

Fortunately, none of the officers were injured. They were assisted by an Armed Response Unit who were called to the scene, and a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and possession of an offensive weapon.
