A drink driver who drove into a parked car while manoeuvring his vehicle in St Ives has been disqualified.

Members of the public flagged down a police officer in Market Hill on August 23 after witnessing Nicholas Diamond driving his blue Vauxhall Corsa into another parked car multiple times.

Diamond, 51, of St Mary’s Road, Bluntisham, provided a roadside breath test of 122 – more than three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes. In custody he provided an evidential reading of 101.

At Peterborough Crown Court on Friday September 6, Diamond was disqualified from driving for two years after pleading guilty to drink driving.

He must also carry out 60 hours unpaid work.

PC Wells, who investigated, said: “There is no excuse for getting behind the wheel of a car while over the drink drive limit.

"Thanks to a member of the public flagging this to a nearby police officer, Diamond has now been disqualified.”
