Plans for the refurbishment at the Priory Centre in St Neots are set to be decided today (September 16).

The Development Management Committee at Huntingdonshire District Council will hear tonight a planning application for the Priory Centre and St Neots Town Council offices, which seeks to refurbish and extend the current buildings.

Some of the key details in the application include the demolition of the existing single storey extension and replacement with a two-storey extension, with a screen plant at roof level; first floor extensions; new glazed windows; new ramps, steps and canopies; solar panels; a replacement chimney and a new balcony.

The application was put forward by Huntingdonshire District Council themselves and is recommended for approval.

In the Design and Access Statement, the plan sets out the case for the proposals: "To enhance community use; increased private hire; additional smaller rooms for use; an enhanced Bar and Café Bistro, and new and welcome council offices."

The planning documents reveal that the plans will also make the building "more accessible and inclusive" for the community.
