People living in Huntingdonshire can have their say on what they hope to see in the district's future.

Huntingdonshire District Council has began its Local Plan Engagement scheme for 2024 and is asking residents to take part in the consultation process, which it says will "shape the future" of the area.

The Local Plan is a document that outlines the vision for Huntingdonshire as well as the policy framework for how the council hopes to achieve the sustainable developments.

The Local Plan plays a pivotal role in addressing key issues such as addressing how Huntingdonshire tackles climate change, housing affordability, infrastructure, flooding, and employment.

It also identifies key areas for development, specifying the nature of that development, and establishing the policies by which planning applications are assessed.

The goal of the Local Plan is to ensure that Huntingdonshire develops sustainably and meets the needs of the current community without compromising those of the future generations.

The consultation will run until November 27.

The council is currently seeking feedback on several key documents for the Local Plan. These are:

  • Further Options and Issues Paper 2024: Outlines the various options for addressing a series of important issues facing the district
  • Land Availability Assessments: An assessment of sites that were submitted to the council that could be suitable for development
  • Sustainability Appraisals: An analysis of site proposals and options based on their economic, environmental and social impact

Feedback must be submitted through the consultation portal, which you can access by clicking here

As well as being able to provide feedback online, those living in Huntingdonshire can view the documents and speak to the planning team in person at several events. All of the events will be drop-ins between 2pm and 8pm:
