Plans for a 400-megwatt solar farm in Huntingdonshire have now progressed to their next phase.

East Park Energy is a proposed solar farm and storage facility that could run from Pertenhall to Eaton Socon, in St Neots. The plans are being developed by Brockwell Storage and Solar.

The proposals have now began to enter into their next phase, which is the statutory consultation.

As part of the planning process, Brockwell Storage and Solar must hold a consultation to give local communities a chance to share their view on the plans.

The consultation begins on Tuesday, September 24. A series of in-person consultation events will be held in each area where one of the four sites are being proposed. They are as follows:

  • Keysoe Village Hall in Keysoe, MK44 2JE from 2pm-7pm on Tuesday, October 1
  • Little Staughton Village Hall, in Little Staughton, MK44 2BX from 2pm-7pm on Wednesday, October 2
  • Hail Weston Village Hall, in Hail Weston, PE19 5JS from 2pm-7pm on Friday, October 11
  • Great Staughton Village Hall in Great Staughton, PE19 5DG from 11am-3pm on Saturday, October 12

One-to-one appointments will also be available during a consultation event in Pertenhall.

  • Pertenhall Village Hall in Pertenhall, MK44 2AT from 10am-2pm on Tuesday, October 22

Brockwell Storage and Solar recently updated their plans for the solar farm after the remains of a Roman town were discovered in Great Staughton on land planned for East Park Energy.

Roads leading up to a central plaza, a Roman villa, pottery, glass and coins were discovered on Site C and as a result, the firm applied for heritage protection of the site.

This was granted by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the land has now been given protection status as a Scheduled Monument.

Brockwell Storage and Solar are now being assisted by Cambridgeshire County Council and Historic England about managing the protected land on Site C.
