Mill View is ideal for those who want to maintain their independence while also benefitting from on-site care services. The development features 24-hour emergency support for residents, ensuring that help is always available if needed.

Wendy Francis-Wood, 89, is a retiree who moved into a two-bedroom apartment at Mill View last summer. She lives with osteoarthritis and said that she is reassured by the professional healthcare support offered on the premises.

“The good thing is it has stopped my family worrying about me,” Wendy said. “They know I’m in good hands – we’ve got 24-hour care here. “And I don’t worry anymore either, because I know if I fall there’s somebody here to help me.”

Wendy said the staff are always available to assist – even with the little things. “I have someone in every morning for 15 minutes,” she said. “They take my rubbish down, sweep up, make my bed – whatever I need them to do.

“The carers are lovely, and I feel very comfortable with them,” Wendy added. “They’re almost like friends.

“There’s a real family feeling.”

Plus, the landscaped communal gardens are perfect for a relaxing stroll during crisp and colourful autumn mornings.

Wendy said that Mill View is a friendly, welcoming environment where neighbours quickly become friends.

“Everyone is lovely here and the neighbours are very helpful,” she said. “They greet you when you’re new. It’s just a nice place to be.”

Wendy visits the restaurant for a meal every day, which she says is a “social hub” for residents to get to know one another.

“I’m convinced it keeps the place together,” she said. “You get to meet people and everybody chats to you. I’ve made lots of friends.”

There are also plenty of activities designed to keep residents active and entertained throughout the year. From group exercises and hobby clubs to social dinners and coffee mornings, there’s always something to look forward to.

Wendy is also impressed with her modern apartment, which has everything she needs to enjoy her retirement in comfort.

“The kitchen is delightful,” Wendy said. “And I love the balcony and the view from my window – I can see the trees by the river, which is marvellous.

“It’s a nice place because you can put your own personality on it. I like flowers so I have them everywhere.”
