The River Great Ouse has burst its banks causing flooding in parts of Huntingdonshire following torrential rain on Wednesday (September 25).
Godmanchester, Huntingdon, St Neots and St Ives are among a number of areas that have been affected following updated flood warnings issued by the Environment Agency today.
It comes as the Met Office issued an amber weather warning for heavy rain this morning (September 26).
The 12-hour warning will cover large parts of Huntingdonshire as "slow moving showers and thunderstorms" develop through the afternoon.
It is currently in force between 6pm today until 6am on Friday.
Affected areas are expected to receive 30-40mm of rain in three hours or less, with some at risk of 50-60mm in or around six hours.
The Met Office warning states: "Keep yourself and others safe; prepare to avoid travelling by road during potentially dangerous road conditions.
"If you must travel, ensure you watch for possible danger and drive cautiously. It is not safe to drive, walk or swim through floodwater, avoid it where possible and if you are affected by fast flowing or deep-water call 999, and wait for help."
One flood warning and two alerts issued by the Environment Agency on Monday (September 23) remain in force with river levels "still rising" in response to heavy rainfall.
Areas most at risk include Wyboston Lakes, School Lane in Eaton Socon, Hardwick Road and Springbrook in Eynesbury, The Paddock and Crosshall Road in Eaton Ford and River Terrace, Priory Lane, Chandlers Wharf, Brook Street, Church Street and Browns Square in St Neots.
Other affected areas include parts of Brampton, Earith, Fen Drayton, Fenstanton, Godmanchester and St Ives.
The Environment Agency said that "river levels are continuing to rise slowly" after heavy rainfall.
It added: "Flooding is expected
"Further rainfall is forecast for Thursday evening which will keep river levels high.
"Take care on riverside roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.
"We are monitoring the situation."
