Councillor Sarah Conboy, leader of Huntingdonshire District Council, gives her views on future priorities for the district.
As the executive leader of Huntingdonshire District Council and executive councillor for Place, my primary goal is to ensure that Huntingdonshire continues to be an outstanding place to live, work, and visit.
A key element of achieving this is our Local Plan, which is vital for shaping the future of our district.
I invite local voices to actively participate in this process, as your input is crucial in creating a plan that reflects our community’s needs and aspirations.
The Local Plan sets out how we will guide housing development, improve infrastructure, and create employment opportunities—all while addressing critical issues like climate change, affordability, and flood risk. It aims to deliver sustainable growth that meets the needs of today without compromising the well-being of future generations.
More than just a policy document, the Local Plan is a vision for how Huntingdonshire will evolve. It is closely aligned with the goals of the Huntingdonshire Futures Place Strategy and the Corporate Plan, ensuring that our district remains well-connected, inclusive, and thriving.
The plan addresses areas like housing, infrastructure, and employment, laying the foundations for future generations. It also tackles key issues such as environmental protection, affordable living, and economic vitality—all vital for the district’s long-term success.
The Place Strategy envisions a district where communities are supported, businesses can grow, and everyone has access to high-quality services and green spaces. The Local Plan plays a critical role in bringing this vision to life.
But this plan isn’t just about the council—it’s about you. Your input is essential in shaping the future of our unique and historic district. I encourage everyone to review the Local Plan proposals and share your feedback.
