A new dental practice has opened in a Huntingdonshire village.

Fenstanton Dental opened its doors on October 3 after announcing its launch as a family-run practice earlier this year.

Founded by husband and wife duo Dr Kiran and Ajay Patel, the private practice aims to bring "first class dentistry" to the local community.

It will offer free dental check-ups with a paying adult for children aged up to five-years-old.

Dr Patel said she noticed a demand for dentistry in Fenstanton after living and working in St Ives for more than 10 years before moving to a practice in Rushton.

She told The Hunts Post: "There wasn't dental practice in Fenstanton but while working in St Ives I realised there was a real demand, and so when we found a site on the high-street, we thought it was perfect.

"It's taken a lot of work to convert the site into a fully-functioning dental practice and it hasn't been an easy process.

"We've got a great team on board including a number of people I've worked with for a long time as a dentist and those who work locally, including my dental nurses and hygienist."

Dr Patel said the response to the opening has been a "really positive" experience and looks forward to connecting with the community.

And while the practice remains fully private, Dr Patel said she is "fully open" to discussions about NHS contracts "once they become available."

She added: "Fenstanton is a lovely village and we have had a lot of positive comments, so we've been quite lucky in that we've been taken in by locals.

"At the beginning my husband visited local business and asked whoever he could how they would feel about a dental practice on the high street and the majority of them were supportive."

Fenstanton Dental is located on 37 High Street.
