"It's been a long journey to where we are now", says Eunika Laskowska, who is one half of the duo behind the much-love Eunice Artisan Bakery.
Eunika, or as she's also known, Eunice, and her husband Marcin Laskowski, have been baking traditional Polish, Lithuanian, Romanian and Italian breads for the Huntingdon community for more than a decade
In 2024, the pair and their ever-expanding team are celebrating 15 years of success - which includes serving former-Prime Minister, Sir John Major, and HRH Princess Anne.
It all began in 2004 when Marcin and Eunice moved to the UK from Poland with the idea of setting up their very own bakery. The pair "missed the tastes and smells of home", so got to work setting it up here.
While balancing studying, travelling and working, Marcin and Eunice developed a business plan and rented a unit in Old Hurst in 2009. The Eunice Artisan Bakery was then established on October 15, 2009.
By 2012, the team moved into the Stukeley Meadows Industrial Estate after their popularity grew.
Eunice remembers: "In the new location we gained new wings. We employed 13, and at the peak, 20 employees, who are all so passionate and wholeheartedly involved in the company."
She said that over the years the company has developed and changed, swapping out confectionary to focus on their ever-popular bread, doughnuts and pastries.
Now, the pair hit market stalls across Cambridgeshire every month as well as operating the bakery.
Eunice and Marcin say that their bread, which has gained fame over the years, is the "pride" of their business.
When the couple first moved to the UK and travelled back and forth to Poland, they would always bring Polish bread in their suitcases - "an authentic taste of home".
When asked for her recipe for success, Eunice said "hard work, sleepless nights, but also mutual support and dedication".
Many a famous face has wandered through the doors of the bakery over the last 15 years, some of them including former Prime Minister Sir John Major and his wife Norma and the former Huntingdon MP Jonathan Djanogly.
The team also made and served a birthday cake to HRH Princess Anne. The Princess Royal took a basket of bakes back to Buckingham Palace with her.
Eunice and Marcin have also made huge efforts to support the local community. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the pair delivered their baked bread across the region to all of those in need.
When the war in Ukraine broke out, Eunice and Marcin, along with Huntingdon residents and the Polish community, organised a collection of essential items to send to Ukraine.
Everyone at the bakery worked together to sort and pack the items into packages and send them over to Ukraine.
While the past 15 years have been a whirlwind for the duo, their most sentimental memory is watching their children, Olivia and Dominic, grow up alongside their business.
Eunice said: "When we opened the bakery, our daughter Olivia was two-years-old and I was pregnant with Dominic.
"From a young age the children have always got involved in life at the bakery - they started with small jobs like assembling boxes, and now they take on much bigger jobs.
"Today, Olivia is nearly 18 and has worked in every position in the bakery. We hope that one day she will take over our family business with an equally great passion."
