Residents of a Huntingdonshire village could see a new housing development built on their doorstep, according to plans.
An application submitted to Huntingdonshire District Council seeks permission in principle for eight new homes on land west of No. 5 High Street in Hail Weston, St Neots.
A design and access statement said the site would consist of three and four bedroom, two storey detached dwellings.
It added that the "modest scheme" would assist with the delivery of the aspiring housing programme for the district and promote "inward investment".

The statement read: "The application site would not appear isolated from prominent positions within the surrounding landscape, but would assimilate with the existing residential properties to the north of High Street and would be viewed from the north in the foreground of existing development south of High Street.
"It physically, functionally and visually relates to the existing residential development of Hail Weston and provides for a natural extension to the settlement.
"It has no material relationship with the wider open countryside, but instead presently forms an undeveloped area within the overall confines of Hail Weston's built-up area."
In addition to shared vehicle and pedestrian access from High Street, plans also seek to create parking spaces that reflect the "adjacent plots" as well as areas for bike storage.
The applicant added the site would be "located conveniently" to nearby services and amenities in the village.
The statement added: "These include but are not limited to Hail Weston Mobile Library (230m, on Orchard Close), The Royal Oak Public House (490m), The Village Hall, Hail Weston (570m), Church of St Nicolas (620m) and Hail Weston Playing Fields (900m).
"Located less than 150m east of the application site on High Street are the nearest bus stops which are services by route 150.
"This route provides access between Tillbrook and St Neots, Monday to Saturday, including AM and MP pick-ups."
