A Huntingdonshire business recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary.

Dream Doors in Godmanchester marked a decade of being in The Causeway on Saturday.

"The rain was biblical on the day but that didn’t dampen our spirits," said Luke Thornton, franchise owners.

"Our business has been registered for 10 years in June this year and has been part of the Dream Doors franchise throughout."

Reflecting on the company's history, he recalled that when his dad, Kevin, started the company he had to use his garage as his storage facility and work from his van for the first nine months.

"He worked six days a week for eight years and retired this year," added Luke, who joined the Dream Doors team in May 2021.

"I learned all he had to offer and bought into the family business in October last year, allowing dad to step away and enjoy being a grandparent."

Lita, showroom manageress, is one of the branch's four local employees, Luke said, adding that they also use a local electrician, plasterer and gas worker.

"She has been invaluable to us since we opened our showroom in 2015 and the business has grown needing more employees as the years have gone by."

The company has a 9.7 checkatrade rating and is recommended throughout the area now with more and more referrals coming in year on year.

Looking ahead, Luke added: "This shop is everything to me. The reputation of this place is so important, which dad has really built up over the years."

"I think my dad always went into it with the mindset of passing something on to me which could also remain in the family.

"It's great to be following in his footsteps and, if things keep going well, this is my future and what my family will be doing for the next few decades."
