The team behind the redevelopment of Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon has announced another round of events now the project has entered the pre-planning application stage.

The face-to-face and online meetings will be an opportunity to learn more about the progress so far, view the plans and hear about the next steps involved in building the hospital.

It will also be a chance for members of the public to provide feedback on the proposals and raise any concerns.

Deborah Lee, Senior Responsible Officer for the Hinchingbrooke redevelopment, said the five events have been scheduled at varying times to accommodate as many people as possible.

She said: “This is an exciting first step for us in our planning process and we are very keen to share our plans with the public, so they can join us on our journey to build a new Hinchingbrooke.”

The following dates have been arranged for the events and details on how to join the online sessions are available on the Hinchingbrooke Hospital website at https://shorturl.at/IT9Pd

  • Tuesday, November 19 in person at the Partnership Suite drop-in session at Hinchingbrooke Hospital between 5pm and 8pm.
  • Thursday, November 21 online with the presentation starting at 2pm until 3.30pm.
  • Tuesday, November 26 online with the presentation starting at 5pm until 6pm.
  • Thursday, November 28 online with the presentation starting 10am until 11am.
  • Saturday, November 30 in person at the Garden Restaurant drop-in session at Hinchingbrooke Hospital between 11am and 2pm.

Hinchingbrooke Hospital has the controversial reinforced concrete RAAC in 75 per cent of the current building.

Staff are being trained in carrying out evacuation procedures in case there is a “significant failure” with the structure.

Former health secretary and North East Cambridgeshire MP Steve Barclay added Hinchingbrooke to the New Hospital Programme in May 2023.

This autumn, the new Government confirmed the project will continue because of the safety issues caused by RAAC.
