An appeal has been launched to find volunteers who can help with next year's Huntingdon Carnival, especially those with social media and administrative skills.
Preparations for the 2025 event are already underway, but the event's organisers are now reaching out to the community to help ensure its success.
Among the roles that need filling are a skilled administrator to take on the role of secretary, overseeing tasks like taking minutes at meetings and creating agendas.
The committee is also searching for someone to manage the event's social media presence.
This role involves posting updates, sharing event news, and engaging with the community online, helping to build excitement and ensure that everyone in the area is aware of what the carnival has to offer.
Bill Hensley, who is on the organising committee that runs Huntingdon Carnival, said: "The planning committee is calling on residents to lend a hand and make this year’s event better than ever.
"As the town’s biggest free-to-enter outdoor event, the annual carnival brings the community together for a weekend of entertainment, activities, and festivities, held on the second weekend in August.
"The carnival, cherished for its family-friendly atmosphere and diverse line-up of events, has been a cornerstone of summer in Huntingdon for years.
"However, the event’s continued success relies on volunteers who can dedicate their time and skills to organising and managing the event.
"These available roles are critical to the smooth running of the event, as effective communication is key to ensuring a successful, well-attended carnival.
"Monthly committee meetings are already scheduled, and all volunteers are encouraged to join, bringing their ideas, enthusiasm, and commitment to the table.
"The committee emphasises that previous experience isn’t necessary—just a willingness to help and be a part of something special in Huntingdon.
"With a strong team of volunteers, the 2025 Huntingdon Carnival promises to be another unforgettable event that will bring the community together, celebrate local talent, and create lasting memories for all who attend."
Anyone interested in volunteering, especially those with organisational or social media skills, is encouraged to get in touch.
