St Ivo Academy has shortlisted a group of students who will be rehearsing for a special theatre show to be performed in March next year.
The students did not need to have any dance experience in the open and inclusive auditions, but were asked to have ‘self motivation’, ‘time-keeping’ and ‘open mindedness’ alongside a desire to develop their dance skills.
St Ivo will be taking part in the ‘Making Moves’ project, and have been chosen alongside 47 other schools and youth groups across the country.
Students will have the chance to work with respected choreographers from Sadlers Wells, and have pledged to commit to the weekly two hour rehearsals running up to their performance, which will be at Jerwood DanceHouse, Dance East on Tuesday, March 25.

Head of dance, Lindsay McAdam said: “This is an amazing opportunity for both experienced and beginner dancers at Ivo. We really wanted students to gain valuable skills, not only in dance, but in time keeping, team working and positive social skills.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what our St Ivo dancers are made of."
School principal Tony Meneaugh added: “This is another fantastic opportunity for students at St Ivo to work with professionals in the dance industry. Congratulations to the dance team for securing this project and I look forward to seeing what our students perform next year.”
‘Making Moves’ is a new choreography and performance initiative for schools and youth groups across England, run by Sadler’s Wells, and offers the chance for students to perform on one of Sadler’s Wells stages.
The St Ivo students who have been chosen to take part have agreed to attend regular rehearsals and commit their time up until the performance next year.
