This week The Hunts Post launches its Christmas Appeal and we have chosen to support The Three Pillars – Feeding The Homeless charity.

The charity is well known in the Huntingdonshire area for the amazing work it does to support those struggling with homelessness and poverty.

The Hunts Post is collaborating with St Neots-based Black Cat Radio, who have already launched a Just Giving page for donations, and Serenity Funeral Directors who are keen to support local good causes.

In the coming weeks, we will bring you more information about the work of Three Pillars, including an in-depth interview with one of the founders, Ged Dempsey, who says community fundraising is “vital”.

We will also tell you how you can get involved and feature your fundraising stories in The Hunts Post.

Ged told us he has previously teamed up with Black Cat Radio and he was pleased to hear the campaign was being expanded.

He said: "This fundraiser is vital for us. Black Cat Radio raised more than £2,000 last year and the money is essential.”

Ged told us the charity needs between £700-£800 each week to provide support.

Ste Greenall, host of the station’s Full English Breakfast show, explained: “Once again this year, we're inviting wonderful local businesses to join us in spreading the festive joy throughout December.”

Ste hopes local businesses will donate a minimum of £25 to support the charity.

Ste added: “Black Cat Radio took its lead from presenter Dave Thomas, who last year galvanised the team for our Christmas Appeal. It was a great success and so we decided to do it all over again.”

Katy Bird and Scott Creedon at Serenity said: “We believe in the mission of 3 Pillars, a remarkable charity dedicated to assisting the homeless and vulnerable in our community.

“By supporting this cause, we contribute to a collective effort that benefits not just those in immediate need, but the entire community.

“Together, we can address homelessness and foster a spirit of compassion and solidarity that enhances our collective well-being.”

Hunts Post Editor Debbie Davies, added: "We are honoured to be supporting the Three Pillars who play such a vital role in our community.

"Without their support and hard work, many people across Cambridgeshire would struggle and suffer, especially now during the colder months. We look forward to hearing from people in the district about their fundraising ideas, and featuring stories in the newspaper or online."
